Trying To Get It Right

It has come to our attention...

...that the photo on the left is not of George W. Bush. On one of our pages, "August 1, 1999", we featured this photo prominently several times, identifying the person as George W. Bush. This is now acknowledged to have been an error, and we regret it, the error.

Now, just as we were confident then that it was George W. Bush, we are equally confident that the photo on the right is the actual George W. Bush.

The trouble started when we didn't know Governor Bush very well, and we are deceived by a dealer on one of the on-line auction services. He offered for sale the picture that we later (unfortunately) featured. And in all honesty we were originally suspicious when we saw "Herman Weise, Bancroft, Neb." written on the back, and that the photo was clearly of 1920s vintage.

One thing this whole episode has resulted in of a positive nature is to make us more aware, more careful of the things we do. For instance, we are still trying to determine the authenticity and the vintage of the following two "Dan Quayle" pictures. They will not be featured anywhere on our pages until we make this determination.

But with Mr. Quayle's demise as a candidate, we may not finish that task, hence they will never be featured. Our resources can probably be better used on those who still have some reasonable viability. (However, if a motel out there ever needs a model for a new "Vacancy" sign, please contact us.)

Today there actually is a more pressing and crucial matter that we have to decide, between two photos that have arrived, both supposedly of Steve Forbes. The photo on the left appears to be nothing but pieces of ice, and, yet, because of the photo on the right, this mere appearance does not make our job any easier.

And so, the terrible mistake we made with the original photo of "George W. Bush", aka "Herman Weise", while regrettable has had the positive outcome of a greater care on our part. We expect excellence of ourselves, and that is what we must continue to seek (since that is what we not only expect of ourselves, but also want, and will seek and attain, if we're careful, diligent, unwavering in our purpose and our commitment, which we have every intention to be, God help us come what may.)
